If you think the free version is good with a track pad, get a scroll wheel mouse and drive SketchUP Pro, it’s a pleasure and way more efficient. Even with the best trackpad gestures incorporated it’s too hard to do simultaneous operations. I would never use the trackpad for SketchUp. Is there a way to get the smart zoom, zoom, and rotate to work for MacBook Pro trackpad in Sketchup 2020 I was hoping this would provide similar capability to the Mac rollerball mouse. ![]() Sometimes after closing SU or after a bug splat, SU overwrites the file and returns to the default version, so to remedy the problem copy the SharedPreferences.json in a safe place, and overwrite them on the one you will find in the folder (returned to default). I get it, I use a Mac, I love the trackpad. My advice is once you have created the shortcuts, close SU, and look for this file, then copy it to a safe place. Here you find a list of commands and you can check if they are the same as you have set. Download the SketchUp Shortcut keys list in PDF form. Believe me, if you use SketchUp to design even a single project, then use SketchUp Shortcut keys. ~ Library / Application Support / SketchUp 2019 / SketchUp / SharedPreferences.json The below list of SketchUp Shortcut keys will not only save you time but will also lessen the fatigue that is caused because of moving back and forth from various toolbars to the model. If you’ve lost keyboard shortcuts, you can find a ** SharedPreferences.json ** file here: I am a mac user so my solution does not apply to windows users (i really don’t know anything inside a pc). ![]() You are just getting frustrated by doing things the wrong way.Hello everyone, I tried to solve the problem that SU 19 does not save the custom keyboard shortcuts. It does sound like you need someone to show you how to use LayOut correctly. To get a MacBook-like gesture on your laptop, you need to have a precision trackpad. If you set the camera to Parallel Projection for your scene in SketchUp, you can select the scale in LO for that viewport. Whether you love navigating an interface with keyboard shortcuts or just want to assign keyboard shortcuts to your favorite commands, the easiest way to create your own shortcuts is in LayOut’s Preferences dialog box, shown in the following figure. Even if you inadvertently unlink the viewport (it’ll show as modified in the SketchUp inspector Scenes list) you don’t have to delete from LO and re-insert it.Just pick the original scene from the list. Don’t open the viewports in LayOut to zoom, pan, etc. On the mac use Command+Paint to sample the material applied to a face. There’s got to be a better way.Īs George pointed out, you should be making scenes in SketchUp and using them for the viewports in LayOut. So I have to delete the model from LO, make the changes, then re-insert the model. I read that if I made changes in my SU model, they would magically appear in LO - not! LO locks the SU model and it won’t save any changes. ![]()
